Marvel Stadium, Melbourne's premier sports and entertainment venue, embarked on a significant transformation aimed at amplifying its capability to host diverse events and enhancing the fan experience. The project also focused on improving urban connections within the Docklands precinct, with the design and execution spearheaded by Grimshaw Architects, in collaboration with sports architecture firm Smartform, and John Holland appointed as the builder.

The primary goal of the upgrade was to amplify the stadium’s ability to host multiple events throughout the year while ensuring that the fan experience remained a top priority. The enhancements focused on improving the stadium's overall capability and connectivity, better urban activation, and public realm integration.

Castledex's Single Source service efficiently managed the FF&E procurement, project coordination, delivery, and installation over 1000 items, from massage tables to custom coloured Australian-made outdoor furniture. Managing three delivery stages across different locations of the upgrade presented logistical challenges. However, increased team resources and maintaining strong relationships with our suppliers and contractors ensured seamless execution.

“I dealt with Castledex throughout the project and can say that all processes from samples to final placement on site went very smoothly. We managed to hand over all FF&E by our required dates. The team was great to deal with, and even with team transitions during the job, the process remained smooth. Alberto picked up the job well and managed it effectively. It was also great to meet the team during their site visits in Melbourne. Overall, I highly recommend Castledex for future projects!” – Luca Djorgovski, John Holland Group

The result is a stunning integration of design and functionality. Each level of the stadium is linked by a large, flexible daylit atrium offering views of the stadium against Melbourne’s cityscape. This dynamic space connects the outdoors while providing protection against the elements, reinvigorating Marvel Stadium as a civic-focused sports and entertainment venue.
