Curtin College is at the heart of the Curtin Exchange development that includes over 1,000 rooms of student accommodation, a hotel, cafes, shops and a supermarket.
Castledex worked with Spectrum West to reduce costs during the COVID pandemic. The approach to a value-engineered solution allowed for changes to the product that met the client’s expectations and design intent whilst helping to control costs in a volatile market.
The fit-out included over 2,000 items of commercial furniture and storage. In addition, Castledex provided white goods, fixtures, joinery seating and acoustic wall features. To ensure adherence to the six-week programme Castledex allocated multiple installation teams across four floors.
A unique challenge of the fit-out was the extensive use of fabric acoustic wall panels and the colour matching to adjacent furniture. The turn-key approach allowed for ease of coordination, reduced costs and interaction with other trades providing upholstered joinery items. The project also included several high-design areas, which allowed Castledex to showcase products from our partner brands Four-Design, Arko and SBW.
The result is a modern, student-focused learning environment that is setting the benchmark within the university sector in WA.
