What Gudai-Darri told us they wanted.
The project brief focused on transforming the existing social environment to better support resident wellbeing, inclusion and safety. Informed by stakeholder engagement and independent survey findings, the objective was to create spaces that encouraged connection and provided a greater diversity of experiences for residents during their downtime, while maximising the value of the existing infrastructure.
How we acted on what we heard.
Working alongside SPH Architecture + Interiors, we helped bring the design vision to life through the supply of furniture solutions that supported the creation of flexible and welcoming social environments. The refurbishment transformed the existing tavern and communal areas through the introduction of contemporary furniture, deliberate zoning and a variety of settings that encouraged both social interaction and individual relaxation.
By carefully selecting furniture solutions that aligned with the project's wellbeing-focused objectives, the space was able to move away from a traditional open-plan layout and provide residents with a greater choice of how they engage with the environment. The result was a more inclusive and comfortable experience that supports a diverse range of users and activities.
Inspired Results
The completed Gudai-Darri Social Hub successfully redefined the village's social spaces, creating environments that promote wellbeing, inclusion and connection. Through collaboration, thoughtful design and carefully considered furniture solutions, the project delivered a meaningful improvement to the resident experience while maximising the value of the existing facilities.
The project demonstrates how well-designed social environments can positively influence wellbeing, foster community and create more engaging spaces for people to connect and recharge.
