At Sydney Law School’s Camperdown campus, Castledex Queensland transformed library and admin spaces into flexible, student-friendly zones combining comfort, function, and design to create some of the most loved study spots on campus.
What USYD told us they wanted.
USYD’s brief was clear: create student-friendly areas that blend functionality with comfort and design flair. These spaces needed to support a variety of activities from individual reading to social learning—while reflecting the university’s commitment to design excellence and student wellbeing.
How we acted on what we heard.
With a strong history of collaboration, Castledex Queensland (formerly Fuse Furniture) worked closely with Mija Keane and the university team to deliver fitouts across the Law and Fisher Libraries, as well as an admin hub known as The Hub.
We supplied a thoughtfully curated furniture package, including:
- FourCast2 Line chairs in Oriental Red with oak veneer backs
- FourUs Solos and Harc Tub Low chairs for quiet study zones
- Lily tables, FourSure stools, and custom Moby tables for group work
- Flexible FourReal tables to allow quick reconfiguration
- Harc Tub High chairs offering acoustic privacy in The Hub
- FourCast XL boardroom chairs and FourMeeting tables for staff areas
The completed spaces have become some of the most popular on campus. Students praise the warm, modern design and inviting atmosphere, often describing it as a “home away from home.” The new library and collaboration zones support diverse study preferences and promote meaningful engagement, reflecting the Law School’s vision for an inclusive and inspiring student experience.
